Chore Rota for Households
Who does which chore this week, shared fairly and rotating every week.
Your browser is not letting this page save. The rota will be lost when you close it. Use "Save a backup file" before leaving.
This week
Make your rota in two steps
- Add the people who share the chores, in People.
- Add the chores, in Chores, or tap "Add 8 example chores".
The rota appears here straight away and moves on by itself every week.
Nobody free
Everyone who can do these is away. Tap "Change" to give one to someone at home.
Coming weeks
Plan ahead: tap a week to open it, mark who is away or swap a job.
People
Add several at once: Ali, Sam, Zoe
Chores
Light = 1 point, Medium = 2, Heavy = 3. The rota shares the points fairly, so a heavy job counts as more work.
Add a chore
Settings and backup
Choose the day you swap jobs. Changing it starts the rota again from this week.
Questions
How does it decide who does what?
Each chore is Light (1 point), Medium (2) or Heavy (3). Every week the jobs, heaviest first, go to whoever has done the fewest points so far, and nobody gets the same job twice in a row when someone else can take it. With 4 people and 4 chores, everyone does every chore once every 4 weeks.
What if we have more chores than people, or more people than chores?
Both work. With more chores, people get two or more jobs a week, balanced by points. With more people, someone has a week off now and then, and it is always a different person.
Someone is away. Who does their jobs?
Tap Mark away on their name (use After to mark a holiday in later weeks). Their jobs go to the people at home that week, and they do not have to make up for it when they come back.
Two of us want to swap. Is that unfair later?
Tap Change next to the job and pick who does it this week. If one person ends up doing more, the rota gives them less in the following weeks, so it evens out.
What about jobs done every day, like washing up?
Choose Every day (one person for the whole week). One person does it every day that week, and someone else the next week. Mark it Heavy if it is a lot of work.
We all use our own phones. How do we share it?
One person keeps the rota and taps Copy this week or Share this week to post it in the group chat, or prints 4 weeks for the fridge. To move the rota to another phone, use Save a backup file and Restore a backup.
Is it private? Does it work offline?
