Questions

How does a committee (ROSCA) work?

Everyone pays the same amount each round and one member takes the whole pot. With 10 members paying 10,000 a month, each month one member takes 100,000. After 10 months everyone has had one turn and has paid in 100,000. It is called a committee, BC or kameti in Pakistan and India, a ROSCA, susu, tanda, chit or savings circle elsewhere.

Does the member who takes the pot also pay that round?

Yes. Everyone pays every round, including the member whose turn it is, so the pot is always the amount times all shares. If your group lets the taker skip their own payment, tick them as paid.

What are shares?

A member with 2 shares pays double each round and takes the pot twice. Two people sharing one turn can be added as one member, for example "Ali and Hina". The number of rounds is the number of shares.

How is the turn order decided?

Members are put in the order you add them. Move turns with the arrows, or tap Draw the order at random in front of the group. The draw is kept, with the date, and Undo puts the old order back. Once a round's pot is ticked as handed over, that round stays fixed.

A member left. What do I do?

If someone else takes their place, tap Edit in their box and change the name: their payments and turn stay. A member who has already taken the pot cannot be deleted, because they still owe the rest of their payments.

Is it private? Does it work offline?

Names, phone numbers and payments stay in this browser on this device: no account, and your data is never sent anywhere. Once loaded, the app works with no connection. Save a backup file now and then, or before changing phones.
