Your contractions

Nothing timed yet. Each contraction you time shows here, newest first, with how long it lasted and how far apart it was from the one before.

    Is it time to go?

Call now, whatever the timing, if your waters break, you are bleeding, the baby is moving less, the pain does not stop between contractions, you feel unwell, or you were told to come in sooner.

This timer is not medical advice. Follow what your midwife, doctor or hospital told you.

    Your rule for calling

Use the rule your midwife or hospital gave you. If this is not your first baby or you live far away, they may want you to come sooner: choose "My own rule".

    Questions

    What is the 5-1-1 rule?

Contractions that come every 5 minutes or closer, each lasting about 1 minute, and that keep going like that for 1 hour. Many midwives and hospitals ask you to call when you reach it. Others use 4-1-1, 3-1-1, or ask you to come sooner. Use the rule you were given.

    How is "apart" measured?

From the start of one contraction to the start of the next, the way midwives count. A contraction that started at 02:00 and the next at 02:05 are 5:00 apart, however long each one lasted.

When does the app say the rule is reached?

When, over the last hour (or your own length), contractions came on average as close as your rule or closer, lasted on average as long or longer, and you have been timing for the whole hour. Averages are used because real contractions are never exactly even.

I closed the page or my phone locked. Is the timing lost?

No. The log and a contraction you are timing are saved on this device, and the clock carries on from the right time when you come back.

    Is it private?

Yes. Your log stays in this browser on this device. There is no account, your data is never sent anywhere, and the timer works offline once opened.
