Electricity, Gas and Water Meter Reading Log
Type the number on your meter every week or month and see how many units you have used this bill period, the bill so far, and what the bill will be by the next reading day.
This browser is not letting the app save. What you type will be lost when you close the page. Save a backup file before you leave.
Add a meter
Add each meter you want to watch. Each one gets its own box where you type its readings.
The day of the month the meter is read for your bill (look for "reading date" on the last bill). Not sure? Leave it on the 1st.
For example 200 to stay a protected consumer, or your own goal. The meter's box then says how much you can still use each day.

How it works
- Add a meter: electricity, gas or water, the unit, and the day it is read for your bill.
- Type the number on the meter with its date. Start with the reading on your last bill.
- Read it again every week or so. The box shows the units used this bill period, the use per day and, with a price, the bill so far and the bill by the next reading day.
- Add a unit limit such as 200, and the box says how many units a day you can still use.
Questions
How are the units used worked out?
Units used are the newest reading minus an earlier one: 8,334 − 8,186 = 148 units since the reading day. If you did not read the meter on the exact day the bill period started, the use between your two nearest readings is spread evenly over the days in between, and the box says the number is partly estimated.
How is the bill at the end worked out?
The app takes your use per day over the last 30 days of readings, multiplies it by the days left until the next reading day, and adds it to what you have used so far. The bill is those units at your price (each step at its own price, or every unit at the top step's price if you ticked that), plus any fixed charge and tax. It is an estimate; the real bill uses the meter reader's number.
How do I stay under 200 units?
Open + Add a unit limit for each bill and type 200. The meter's box then shows "You can use 3.1 units a day for the 17 days left" and the day you will pass 200 if you keep using what you use now. Read the meter every few days to see if you are on track.
The meter was replaced, or went back to zero
When you type the first reading from the new meter, tick New meter, or the meter went back to 0. The app starts counting again from that number. The units used between the last old reading and the new one are not known, so the box estimates them from your usual use per day.
Day and night rates, or two flats?
Add each dial or each meter as its own meter, for example "Day rate" and "Night rate", each with its own price and readings.
Is it private? Does it work offline?
