LPG Gas Cylinder Refill Log
Log each refill of your gas cylinder and see when it will likely run out, when to get the next one, and what cooking gas costs you each month.
This browser is not letting the app save. What you type will be lost when you close the page. Save a backup file before you leave.
Add a cylinder
Add each gas connection you want to watch, such as the kitchen stove or a heater. Each one gets its own box where you log its refills.
How long the shop or delivery usually takes, plus a safety day.
A rough guess is fine. It is used only until your first cylinder runs out; after that the app uses your own refills.
Backup and settings
How it works
- Add your cylinder: its name, its size (such as 11.8 kg) and how many days before it runs out you want to get the refill.
- Log the cylinder you are using now: the day it was put on and, if you know it, the price.
- Each time you change the cylinder, log the refill. The app learns how many days a cylinder lasts you.
- See the answer: "Likely empty around 5 Nov, get a refill by 3 Nov", the gas left, the price per kg and what gas costs you a month.
Questions
How does the app know when my cylinder will run out?
It counts how many days your last 3 cylinders lasted for the gas in them. For example 3 cylinders of 11.8 kg that lasted 26 days each is 35.4 kg in 78 days, 0.45 kg a day, so a full 11.8 kg cylinder lasts 26 days. If the current one was put on 10 Oct, it will likely be empty around 5 Nov. Before your first cylinder has run out, it uses the days you typed in + How long does a full cylinder last?, if any.
Can it tell if the shop under-filled my cylinder, or if there is a leak?
When a cylinder runs out at least 30% faster than the ones before it, its row says so, for example "Ran out 8 days sooner than usual". If you did not cook more, have guests or use a heater, the cylinder may have been under-filled, or gas may be leaking. To check for a leak, brush soapy water on the valve, regulator and pipe: bubbles mean a leak. Close the valve and call your supplier; never use a flame to check.
My gas use changes in winter. Does the date still work?
Yes. Only your last 3 cylinders are used, so when you start using more gas (a heater, guests, Ramadan cooking) the date adjusts within a cylinder or two.
The shop filled less than a full cylinder
Type the amount in Gas filled when you log the refill, for example 6 kg. The app expects it to last about half as long, and the price per kg is worked out from what was really filled.
I have two cylinders that take turns
Tick I keep a full spare cylinder and log a refill each time you connect a full one. The box then tells you when to swap to the spare and get the empty one refilled. A heater or a second stove on its own cylinder is best added as its own cylinder.
I forgot to log a refill, or was away
Add it later with its real date. A cylinder that lasted much longer than usual is left out of the average and its row asks you to check it. If it ran out and you got the refill days later, open Edit on that refill and add the day it ran out, so the days without gas are not counted.
