Questions
Why does my doctor want a diary?
Doctors ask "how many days a month, how bad, how long, what sets it off, and does the medicine work?". Memory is not good at this, especially for the bad days. A diary kept for 4 to 8 weeks answers it, helps the doctor choose a treatment and later shows whether the treatment is working.
How are the days counted?
Every calendar day an episode touches counts as a day with the symptom, so a migraine from 10 pm to 6 am counts on both days. Two episodes on the same day count as one day. An episode that is still going counts up to today. An episode that crosses the start of the period counts only its days inside the period.
What do "average pain" and "usually lasts" mean?
Average pain is the worst pain of each episode, added up and divided by the number of episodes, to one decimal. Usually lasts is the average length of the episodes that have stopped; episodes still going are left out of it. Longest includes them.
Why does it count the days I took medicine?
For headaches and migraine, taking pain medicine on 10 or more days a month (15 for simple painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen) can itself cause more headaches, called medication overuse headache. The app counts the day each episode with a medicine started and shows a note at 10 or more days a month, so you can mention it to your doctor. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without asking your doctor.
When should I get help straight away?
Call emergency services for a sudden, very severe headache ("the worst ever", reaching full strength within a minute or so), a headache with a stiff neck, fever and rash, weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, confusion, a fit, or after a head injury; or for severe stomach pain with vomiting blood, black stools or a hard swollen tummy; or back pain with numbness around the bottom or trouble passing urine.
Can I track more than one thing?
Yes. Tap + Add a symptom at the top. Each symptom has its own episodes, triggers and summary. Tap a name at the top to switch.
Is it private? Does it work offline?
The diary stays in this browser on this device: no account, and your data is never sent anywhere. Once loaded, the app works with no connection. Save a backup file now and then, or before changing phones.
Is this medical advice?
No. It is a diary to help you and your doctor. Follow your doctor's advice.
