      Questions

How is the shopping list made?

It reads the ingredients of every meal on the week, works them out for the number of people eating that meal, and adds up the same ingredient. 1 onion on Monday and 2 onions on Thursday become Onions: 3. Under each item you can see which meals need it.

How are amounts worked out for more or fewer people?

Each meal says how many portions the recipe makes, and each meal on the plan says how many people eat it. A curry that makes 4, cooked for 6, needs 1.5 times every ingredient: 2 onions become 3. Halves and quarters are shown as ½ and ¼, with "buy 2" when you cannot buy part of one.

Why does an item show two amounts, like "2 cups + 300 ml"?

Amounts are only added together when the answer is exact: grams with kilograms, ml with litres, teaspoons with tablespoons and cups. Cups and ml, or "1 tin" and "400 g", stay side by side so nothing is guessed wrongly. Pounds and grams are added as "about".

What about salt, oil and things I already have?

Ingredients with no amount, such as "Salt" or "Olive oil", go on the list once with no amount. Tick anything you already have at home before you go; it moves to Got it.

I shop on Saturday. Can my week start then?

Yes. In Settings and backup set My week starts on to your shopping day, and the week and the list run from that day. In the middle of the week you can also choose Shopping for: Today to ... to leave out the days that have passed.

Is it private? Does it work offline?

Your meals and lists stay in this browser on this device: no account, and your data is never sent anywhere. Once loaded, the app works with no connection, so the list works in a shop with no signal. Save a backup file before changing phones.
